Students Attend the 20th Annual Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics

VCU students Lauren Hux (2019) and Diana Voronina (2018) attended the 20th Annual Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics (NCUWM) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on January 26 – 28, 2018. Lauren is majoring in Mathematics and Statistics at VCU and presented a poster at the conference titled "Enhancing Passenger Preclearance via the Flexible Facilitation Model Technical Analysis of Alternatives” based on her research project from last summer at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Diana is majoring in Applied Math and Computer Science and is currently studying K-QSAT with Dr. Marco Aldi.

Voronina and Hux attend NCUWMThe VCU Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics has sent students to NCUWM for the past four years, and each time the students return enriched and grateful. Diana said ‘There was bountiful advice and inspiring encouragement coming from everyone…if you do not know your path after college with a math major, after coming to this conference you will know exactly what you want and how to get there.” Lauren said her favorite part of the conference was “getting to network with interesting women all in different career paths across mathematics.”
