Allison Moore

Allison Moore, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave., room 4149

Education

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, The University of Texas [Thesis: “Behavior of Knot Floer Homology Under Conway and Genus Two Mutation”; Adviser: Cameron Mc.A Gordon]
  • B.S. in Mathematics, The University of Texas
  • B.A. in Plan II, The University of Texas

Research Interests

Moore's research interests are in low-dimensional topology and geometry, especially knot theory. In her recent projects, she has used Heegaard Floer theory and Khovanov homology to study local operations on knots, Dehn surgery in three-manifolds, and to investigate the relationships between knot invariants and structures arising in three-manifolds and four-manifolds. Moore is also interested in applications of low-dimensional topology to problems in molecular biology and DNA topology.
