Ihsan Topaloglu, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave., room 4151a
Education
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Indiana University Bloomington [Thesis: “An Isoperimetric Problem with Nonlocal Long-range Interactions”; Adviser: Peter J. Sternberg]
- M.S. in Mathematics, Bogazici University [Thesis: “Variational methods for nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with nonlocal terms”; Adviser: Alp Eden]
- B.S. in Mathematics, Bogazici University
Research Interests
Topaloglu's research interests lie primarily in the calculus of variations, partial differential equations and geometric measure theory, with a focus on problems arising from materials science, biology and physics. In particular, he is interested in the analysis of non-convex and nonlocal constrained variational problems which result in energy-driven pattern formations.
