About the Competition

The competition is individual and consists of a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment.  More information about the competition can be found on the Mathematical Association of America's website.

Register

Please send a signed copy of the permission form to math@vcu.edu. Once we have the permission form, we will send you a link that you can use to register for the competition. You will receive a confirmation email once your registration has been approved. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have, and we hope to see you and your child at the AMC competition at VCU!
