Graduate Studies
With more than 20 faculty actively involved in research and dedicated to excellence in mentoring and teaching students, the Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Department is a great place to pursue your advanced degree. The department offers full and part-time graduate programs: an accelerated B.S. and M.S. program, a Master of Science in Mathematics program, a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (Math Specialist Program) and a Ph.D. in Systems Modeling and Analysis. Our graduate courses are small in size and personal in nature.
Financial Assistance
Each year the department has a number of graduate assistantships available for full-time graduate students. These carry a stipend and remission of tuition. Assignments may include teaching your own course, being a teaching assistant, or grading. Students who would like to be considered for financial support should apply as early as possible.
The deadline for applying for financial assistance for the fall semester is March 1 and the deadline for the spring semester is October 1.
Visit the VCU Graduate School Funding Opportunities page for full information on how to finance your graduate studies.
